Objectives
This course aims at triggering informed class discussions whilst confronting students with main challenges that journalism faces today.
Students should be able to:
i) identify and understand the role of journalists in the media arena;
ii) know different ways of accessing the profession and to lifelong learning;
iii) critically think about media social responsibility and the role of regulation in journalistic procedures;
iv) understand the effects of fragmented audiences on journalistic work;
v) access the main technological transformations and its implications on journalistic practices;
vi) discuss the quality of journalism under demanding needs for journalistic multitasking;
vii) discuss the role of journalism in the construction of citizenship.
