This module aims to explain how esports journalism has evolved in the last two decades, and delve into the biggest challenges that this sector is currently going through. Students will learn the evolution of videogame competitions and analyze different reporting styles when it comes to esports events. We will also look into the ever-changing nature of esports titles over the years and discuss some of the biggest names in the industry. Students are expected to be able to reflect on the type of sports journalism that is prevalent in Portugal by analyzing different realities and methodologies. At the end of the semester, students should be able to create an engaging piece of reporting on a live esports event.
