Journalism plays a key role in educating and informing citizens about one of our biggest challenges as a society. In the current climate crisis, journalists need a “climate lens” across all their work. This course will trace the evolution and practice of climate journalism, reflect on the main challenges that journalists face in their climate coverage and provide students with journalistic resources and techniques that allow them to cover the topic with quality and depth.
This curricular unit combines a theoretical part with a practical one in which students develop a reportage with this focus. Students will understand the specifics of climate
journalism; learn to identify reporting topics and credible sources in this area; use journalistic techniques that enhance the practice of climate journalism. Occasionally, we will invite experts in the field to share their experience with students.
