The project “PES_CE Entre Serras Project, a network of contemporary art in mountain areas”, coordinated by Prof. PhD João Abreu, is funded under the Creative Europe program.
The research project “PES_CE Entre Serras Project, a network of contemporary art in mountain areas”, coordinated by João Abreu, professor at ESCS, was approved, for financing, by the European Commission, under the Creative Europe, a program designed to support cultural and creative sectors.
The project is within the ESCS Research Line 1 (Media, Culture and Technology) and was presented by a consortium, led by IPL/ESCS, of eight institutions from Portugal, France and Spain (Município de Castelo Branco, Commune de Digne-les-Bains, Ayuntamiento de Malpartida de Cáceres, Consorcio Museo Vostell Malpartida, Ecole Superieure d'Art Felix Ciccolini Associação, Geopark Estrela e Adxtur – Aldeias de Xisto). During the next three years, it will involve around 40 artists and cultural producers and over five dozens of direct local participants and the public.
The PES_CE project aims to explore the articulation of images with artistic practices interested in experimenting the landscape of mountains in regions of low population density. With the proposed activities (residencies, workshops, artistic walks, exhibitions, seminars, actions with the communities and online resources, among others), the project intends to initiate dialogues, reflections and perhaps new axes for solidarity in the territories.
