In this UC will be addressed the History of travel writing, the Portuguese tradition in that literary genre and the current reality and importance of the narrative about travel, with reference to more important authors, classical and contemporary authors. The various sub-genders of travel journalism and their conceptual perspectives will be analysed: the traveller's attitude, the travel journalist's ethics, travel journalism as a form of research on the world. In its practical strand, UC will address the techniques of planning and organizing a journey, observation and immersion deep and collecting and recording information on travel. Problems of the behaviour and the gaze of the traveller are still discussed in the face of cultural, traditional and religious realities other than their own. Finally, specific narrative techniques of travel journalism will be transmitted and exerted, for publication on different platforms, printed or digital.
