What you need to know about the MENTori@IPL Program – ESCS
If you already are a student at ESCS for over a year and enjoy contact and connecting with people, THIS PROGRAM IS FOR YOU!
The MENTori@IPL – ESCS program is an institutional program which intends to promote the academic, personal and social integration of new students who will be entering ESCS in the current academic year.
It is a total volunteer program, which essentially depends on the spirit of mutual help among the mentors and their mentees and should follow the Guiding Principles of Peer Mentoring of the Lisbon Polytechnic Institute.
With your participation and commitment, you will be able to help the new students of your course to have an AMAZING experience in their first year!
You will be able to support their integration in the institution, help them to create connections with other students, give advice on the classes/subjects/teachers and provide other necessary support.
Most of all, you will be able to provide a unique experience to new students during their 1st year, which is often so challenging.
How long does the program last?
If you sign up as mentor, you should accompany a beginner throughout the entire school year, mainly during the 1st semester.
What are my responsibilities as mentor?
As mentor, your main mission is to create and maintain a connection with the student(s) who are under your “responsibility” throughout this year, helping them in their integration at ESCS and helping them to establish a network of connections with other students! In order to be able to help the beginners in the best way possible, you should participate in a training for mentors (place, date and time will be informed after your registration), which will give you some ideas on how to create this first contact with the students, also giving you tools that will help you to deal with some of the challenges that you might find during the development of this relationship.
By participating in the Mentorship IPL-ESCS Program throughout this school year, you will have the possibility to include this activity in your Diploma Supplement!
All remaining information will be given once you finalize your registration.
You can find more information on the IPL website.
Challenge yourself and join us!
We are counting on you!
