This course is an introduction to scriptwriting for short and feature films. We will explore the basic theory about the stories structure and their writing, taking into consideration the gradual nature of script development and the need for continuous rewriting beyond the limitations of the U.C. and the personal, subjective and creative aspects of their own writing.
At the end of the semester, students should be able:
To properly format a film script;
To apply the dramatic principles to the writing of an original script for a short film;
To identify and critically analyze structures and devices used in movie scripts;
To analyze and constructively criticize scripts created by peers and to be able to receive and synthesize criticism of their own writing by peers and the teacher.
